Bedroom Decorating Ideas For Unique Headboards

If there is one piece of furniture that is the focal point in the bedroom, it’s the headboard so you want yours to really stand out. Sure, you can buy a nice bedroom set with a headboard, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a unique piece that no one else has? Here are 5 bedroom decorating ideas for unique headboards.

1. Room Divider. Room dividers can be used for more than just dividing rooms and since they are typically highly decorating they make a great headboard! Just fold it out flat and slip between the bed and the wall and you have an instant interesting headboard. You can get headboards with great designs, patterns and scenes so there’s sure to be something that will match your decor.

2. Fireplace Mantle. If you have a cottage, country or shabby chic style bedroom, then using an old fireplace mantle for a headboard can be a fun and interesting idea. You can get one that is the same width as your bed or one that is a bit wider so that the bed fits inside the frame. The mantle parts acts as a great display shelf too.

3. Fence. You probably never thought you’d be reading about uses a fence in an article of bedroom decorating ideas, but a picket fence can make a cute headboard for a country style bedroom. Just mount the fence so it sticks up above the height of the bed and you’ll have a cute country look in your bedroom.

4. Mirror. A big mirror can really open up a room, so if you have a small bedroom this might be a great idea to make it seem larger. You can mount a large piece of mirror on the wall, or try putting up smaller squares with beveled edges that are set together, then in the corner where each square meets, paste a button or other round item for a tufted look. If you are looking for any easy project, simply buy a large mirror in a fancy frame and hang it above the bed.

5. Wrought Iron Gate. Using an old wrought iron gate for your headboard can really give your bedroom a regal appeal. Buy a fancy scrolly gate with a figural motif or one that has large initials and your bedroom with have the look of an old castle. This goes great with a gothic look as well as an Italian style and even a Mexican style bedroom.

When thinking up bedroom decorating ideas for your bedroom makeover, remember to be creative. You don’t have to use the same old items and materials that are traditional in bedroom decor. Thinking outside of the box and using different items and materials will give you a truly unique and interesting bedroom.
