Although the obvious decorating solution for you home is to put drapes on your windows... consider where else you can use drapery.

Fabric is one of the key ingredients of exciting home decor. You have fabric for your window treatments, fabric for your pillows and couches and fabric for your rugs. So where else can you add texture and color?

Here are 5 ways to add curtains to your decor:

1. As room dividers. If you have a open floor plan, draw an imaginary line between areas of the room. Then hang drapes from the ceiling against the wall at each end of the imaginary line. Now you have a visual division between spaces.

2. Tie back a drape at an entry way. If you have an entry way into a dining room or even into a hallway... hang a drape across the entry way and the tie it back revealing the space beyond. What an elegant touch to any home!

3. Hang curtains in front of messy book shelves. You don't need to replace your book shelves. Hang simple rod pocket curtains from the top of your book shelves to hide the clutter.

4. Replace a closet door with a drapes. If your door is in the way or you use your closet as a home office, hide all that mess with some drapes that can be tied back quickly.

5. Hang drapes on your canopy bed. Instead of a canopy hang tab top curtains or rod pocket curtains along the top beams for some drama, privacy and softness.

Remember, when hanging fabric, use the same fabric that you've used on your windows or on your furniture. Try not to add another fabric to the mix.

So, if you have an unslightly area or a plain wall that needs "something", try hanging some curtains!

Happy decorating!
